In order to better resemble Living Coasts, the team decided it best to include a penguin as the main character.
Below is the rough shape I decided the penguin to have, to appeal more to children, I thought it appropriate to give it a more cartoonish appearance. The large eyes and wider frame would appeal more to children, as they would typically be the people playing the game. We realised that this particular model didn’t accurately resemble a penguin, however, it would be close enough to put the point across.
At this point, I thought that a regular penguin might be too plain and decided to look into the various types of penguin they have at Living Coasts. Below is a macaroni penguin, called so because of its yellow eyebrows. I decided to take inspiration from this one’s appearance, as it would add more of a distinctive look to the character.
Below is the final outcome for the penguin, as you can see I have added the eyebrows and also goggles (at the team’s request) in order to give him more character.
From here I will need to bake and texture this character.
