In order to make my character move, I needed to make an idle, walk and a run animation. The animations are fairly simple themselves, however I wanted to show the player the character of the Gryms within their movements. The creatures are supposed to be depicted as nervous and cowardly, and I emphasized this within their movements.
In the idle animation below the Grym will stand with his hands close to his chest and look around the room in a paranoid fashion, turning his head quickly at any sound. I didn’t want him to stand perfectly still when stopped so I thought it would be a good opportunity to tell the player about these creatures.
The walk animation of the character tells a similar tale, with him looking around nervously as well as staring at the floor a lot of the time.
The run animation is quite different to the others as he isn’t looking around him all the time. I wanted to make it seem like he is trying to ignore the world around him and carry on with his head down.
